In reading a devotional on Isaiah 6:1-3, I have difficulty with the notion of angels harping praises while God
sits on His royal throne. It's my problem completely but it seems so gaudy, the imagery. We are taught to worship God and He is indeed worthy of all our
worship; yet (I guess) what is really worship. In my mind it has to be more to what the angels are/were doing in Isaiah. That type of worship appears to be too
mystical, something that the RCs would love as it's strictly outward in form; not the worship in word and deed that we often hear preached. Maybe the
difficulty I have with the imagery in Isaiah comes from the modern day cultural ideas of how to pay someone respect, whereas past cultures would have no
problem with the imagery - even being helpful to them. Jesus humbled Himself without requiring those around Him publicly lauding Him wherever He went. God is
worshiped by just the shear recognition of who He is. He does not need any gaudy displays of worship to prove that He is.
I know it's my problem, but the imagery does not help me. Now, the "Holy, Holy, Holy" does because it tells me something about God. Am I missing
something?
