Grace to you and peace from God, our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
We have a ten year old son who we homeschool. We do that for a lot of reasons, some of which relate to the fact that we don't think other ten year olds are the best group to be socializing him. One of the questions we get, particularly after he spends some time around other 10-y-o boys playing whatever nintendo/Game Boy/Playstation game they want to is "why do I have to be different." He wants so badly to fit in. But he also knows the answer to that question, and he needs to hear it from our lips every once in a while.
I bet those students really know the answer, too. But they just want to fit in. Maybe it's not that they lose respect if you aren't 'hip.' (I've dated myself), but they're just trying to put up a smoke screen.
Just some thoughts.
In Christ,
Tom
