(I can't believe I'm defending Amy Grant, but I'm not really, so.....)
ISTM Baby, Baby is meant to convey one of those non-profound, affectionate moments lovers have. To compare it as though it is necessarily meant to be as profound as the Black Sabbath lyrics and falls short is about as fair as comparing "Happy Birthday" with "Let not the marriage of true minds." ISTM they are just different genres.
And besides, comparing the lameness of a relatively lame Christian(?) artist to a moment of profundity from a pagan artist and then somehow making it a commentary on "what metal-heads can do" and "what Christian artists can do" ignores the existence of some very fine Christian lyricists and ignores the fact that most unregenerate metal-heads churn out juvenile trash.
And I don't even LIKE most CCM!
