IOW, he has a vested interest in seeing her dead, and it's BECAUSE of his mistress and their children.
Were he just flitting from one woman's bed to another, living a playboy lifestyle, then actually he might be far more willing to keep her alive. Marvelous protection from any expectation of marriage . . . he's already married!

Personally, ISTM we need to be agitating for legislation saying that no one who stands to benefit from someone's death, whether monetarily or because it frees them to marry another, etc., can make decisions regarding plug-and/or-tube-pulling.
