The primary premise of NCT (and there are different views on NCT, Wells, Zaspel, Lehrer, etc.) is that the NC as mediated by Christ is a brand NEW covenant, which totally replaces the OC. This differs from CT which views the NC as a continuation and maturity of the OC -- i.e. it is what the OC looked forward to. NCT claims the OC was a covenant that God established with the ancient Nation of Israel "only,"...

Thanks for the link. Maybe I should have asked it this way. When CTs come across the wording, "new covenant" in the NT how do they understand the intent of Paul's and other NT writers in using the term. .

Instead of asking about the differences between CT and New CT, I am interested in explaining the usage of the wording without coming across as it replaces an old Covenant.

This may cause confusing to my first 2 paragraphs here, but I thought New...

We see 'New Covenant' used quite a bit in the NT. Most Reformed believers see their being two covenants - works and grace. The Covenant of Grace starting at Genesis 3:15. So what all does the word, 'new covenant' entail when used in the NT, and what does it not mean as interpreted by some?
